An Advocate has to be a law graduate and needs to pass the Bar council examination to be enrolled as an Advocate. The Bar council examination has three stages namely MCQ, Written and VIVA. Once someone passes the bar council examination they can become member of any District Bar Association and start practicing law.
The traditional practice method of lawyers or Advocates in Bangladesh were to go to court everyday and sit in the bar building and consult with clients there. The lawyers did not have any institutional set up or chain law firms as is seen in western world and in other parts of the world.
